Does
laser causes cancer?
Laser treatment does not cause any problem at tissue level, laser
is selectively directed towards some cellules contents e.g. water
or to a color e.g. red, black or blue which selectively absorbs
laser beam, and temperature is raised to boiling level causing it
to vanish. Laser beam can't penetrate for more than few
millimeters (and this is one of the disadvantages of laser) so
deep tissues are completely free of any effects of laser.
Is
it possible to erase all wound scars completely by laser?
It is not possible to erase scars completely but laser treatment
does improve thickness and discoloration of some scars.
Is
it possible to remove hair completely by laser?
The FDA has issued the following statement about laser treatment
"Treatment by laser causes thinning of hair in treated area
permanently. This means there is no way to remove hair permanently
from any area of the body. Repeated treatment sessions will get
rid of large amount of hair permanently, and those remaining hairs
become lighter and thinner and grow very slowly.
Do
I need hormonal studies before starting laser hair removal?
Before starting laser treatment a doctor at the center must
examine the patient to see whether it is necessary to order
hormonal studies and echography to the abdomen to treat any
abnormalities before starting hair removal by laser. However, most
cases are not classified under pathological hersutism and hair
removal by laser can be started immediately without any tests.
What
are the possible complications after laser treatment?
The target of hair removal laser is the black color which is the
same dye produced by skin cells that give to each individual his
characteristic color. If this layer of color producing cells is
not protected during treatment, it will be burned and areas of
discoloration will appear which are difficult to treat.
From above we realize the importance of DCD controlled by machine
computer and set up by treating doctor to protect dye-producing
cells effectively. We have not encountered any discoloration
problem among thousands of treatment sessions done at the laser
center since we started.
Who
treats women for hair in the sensitive areas?
Gentle laser machine is operated by a female doctor who is
available during all treatment sessions in addition to the
referring specialist doctor.
How
much the consultation fee fro hair removal?
Hair removal consultation is free and is done by a doctor who is
available in the center on everyday basis.
How
long a hair removal session lasts for?
This depends on size of the treated area, e.g. lip and chin takes
10 minutes, while legs and thighs will take one hour or so.
Are
there any skin changes after hair removal?
Laser treatment will leave redness over treated skin, this will
settle down with application of ice cubes. In often cases this
redness may lasts for a day or so, and a soothing cream is
prescribed to take care of this problem. In the majority of cases
women who received treatment in the afternoon can go out at night
with no skin damage at all.
Can
laser treat all leg varicosities?
Dye laser is effective on blood vessels 1-5mm and less in
diameter; layers over will need either sclerotherapy or surgery.
Is
it possible to remove red nevus in one session?
A vascular nevus has multiple layers of dilated blood vessels,
each layer will need at least tow sessions generally speaking,
vascular nevus need an average of 8-12 sessions to achieve the
desired goal.
Can
laser remove acne scars?
Laser works on edges of pits and makes them shallower, also laser
stimulate the production of collagen so results depend on depth of
these pits.
Can
laser remove burning scarring?
Port burn scarring leaves thick kelloids on skin inequalities.
Laser can be of use only in thick fresh scars when dye laser
together with the injection of local steroids can improve
situation.
What
are the caution indications to laser?
Despite the fact that laser doesn't penetrate to deep tissues,
it's advised not to use laser during pregnancy especially over
abdominal area. It is also advised not to use laser on tamed skin
because of the high concentration of melanin (the dark dye) can
lead the skin burns. It is preferable to rest for at least one
month after sun exposure before laser treatment.
Is
there any pre-treatment to skin before hair removal by laser?
Since the target of laser is the active hair bulks, it is advised
not to remove hair by sugar or needle one-month period to laser
treatment, shaving or clipping of hair is ok. It is also advised
not to use hair dyes e.g. hydrogen peroxide for two weeks before
treatment since fair hair is less affected by laser.
